Boyd Technologies has launched its Sourcebook material sourcing website www.sourcebookmaterials.com which has a planned go-live date of May 15, 2015. Sourcebook is a vertically integrated material sourcing solution developed by Boyd Technologies and focused on improving search, comparison and sampling of advanced flexible materials.
The website, which will launch at the EWMA tradeshow in London, U.K., will display the specifications of thousands of advanced flexible materials from hundreds of global material manufacturers. These materials include composites, extruded nets, films, foams, foils, membranes, nonwovens, technical papers and technical textiles. “Our launch of the Sourcebook website is the culmination of years of work and collaboration with material suppliers,” says Hannah DeLisle, the company’s Senior Director of Quality & Materials.
The problem the company has identified is that product development cycles take months to search, compare and sample various flexible materials. Commenting on the launch, the company’s Sourcebook Engineer, Brianna Sporbert, says, “We expect Sourcebook to change the way our industry thinks about material sourcing.” The company expects to have more than 6500 commercially available materials in Sourcebook by its launch date and is projecting growth of 15% each quarter.
“Sourcebook provides one globally comprehensive source, with comparable data and overnight material samples – everyone is really excited about its potential impact,” adds Ms. Sporbert.
Boyd Technologies launched an aggressive five year growth plan at the end of 2013 which laid out plans for significant investments in its people, knowledge base and core technologies. “We successfully completed our capital investment in 2014, and our Sourcebook launch is another key component of our growth strategy,” comments president Stephen Boyd.
