Leigh Delaware Holdings, an affiliate company of Leigh Fibers, has acquired Industrial Conservation Engineering ‘ICE’ Recycling of Lake City, SC.
Founded in 2008 by Larry Gay, Jr., ICE Recycling reprocesses post-industrial polymers, cardboard, paper and metals for companies throughout the Southeast U.S. The company provides both on-site waste-stream management as well as off-site reprocessing services. In October 2010, to meet increasing demand for its services,
ICE Recycling moved to its current location 25 miles south of Florence, SC, effectively tripling its capacity and workforce.
Leigh Fibers is headquartered in Wellford, S.C., near the center of the Greenville-
Spartanburg area. As a fourth-generation manufacturer of recycled fibers, the company is one of the world’s largest reprocessors of natural, synthetic and specialty fibers. Since 1917 it has diverted more than 14 billion pounds of postindustrial and used fiber from landfills and is currently active in 25 countries around the world.
According to Heidi Lehner, president of Leigh Delaware Holdings, ICE Recycling will continue to be managed separately with Gay as president. Co-owner, Butch
Crawford, will remain with the company through the transition before leaving to pursue outside interests.
“Leigh’s acquisition of ICE Recycling will benefit customers of both companies. While the companies will remain separate, we have broadened and deepened our resources, improving our capabilities and expertise,” says Lehner.
