The Lucart Group has finalized the takeover of Georgia-Pacific’s tissue and airlaid businesses in Italy. The deal was approved by the antitrust authorities in Italy.
Lucart will change the name of Georgia-Pacific Italy to Airtissue srl and will market the Tenderly and Tutto brands as such. The agreement also licenses the use of Lotus Professional and the exclusive distribution of Demak’up products in Italy for one year.
Airtissue is based in Genoa, Italy and has two plants in Castelnuovo and Avigliano. The Tenderly brand is involved in tissue, toilet paper, napkins, handkerchiefs and twwels while Tutto is a range based on airlaid technology or dry paper.
Lucart is a European makers of MG paper and tissue papers. After the acquisition, total turnover will be about €450 million.
“We are pleased at having finalized the acquisition but we are also aware that in such a difficult market situation we are experiencing the following months will be really challenging,” says Massimo Pasquni, CEO of Cartiera Lucchese Spa. “Our priorities are the relaunch of Tutto and Tenderly brands and the integration of the new plants with the rest of the group.”
