The Water 99% premium baby wipes from Akachan Honpo received an excellence award in the Social Kids Products category from the government-backed Japanese Kids Design Association. This is the first time a hygiene product was honored.
The jury favored the wipes because of their combination of a skin friendly lotion and a smooth, strong fabric. Launched in October 2010, the wipes are made from 100% Tencel, which allowed Akachan to develop a 99% water lotion with a silky fabric.
"Skin friendliness is a key purchasing criterion for baby wipes," says Chris Potter, business manager Japan for Lenzing. "The smooth surface of Tencel meets this request since it cleans effectively while pampering sensitive baby skin. In addition, parents value the security offered by the strong and bulky Tencel fabrics."
The Kids Design Award is an award program that realizes and disseminates three principles of kids design, namly designs to contribute to the security and safety of children. The program was started in 2007; since then 303 designs have been presented in seven divisions.
