Ahlstrom Corp., a leader in high performance fiber-based materials has reported third quarter results. During the July-September 2010 period, net sales reached $671 million. Quarterly profit before taxes was $12 million.
Net sales for the first three quarters combined tallied $2 billion. Loss before taxes as $9 million, while operating profit before taxes for the first three quarters combined amounted to $53 million.
Net sales increased in all of Ahlstrom’s business areas compared to the third quarter of 2009. Net sales for July-September tallied $671 million, an increase of 20.4% compared to the same period last year.
Net sales of the Building and Energy segment reached $92 million, an increase of 15.2% compared to July-September 2009.
Net sales of the Filtration segment amounted to $122 million, an increase of 24% compared to July-September 2009.
Net sales in the Food and Medical segment rose 18.7% to $123 million.
Growth was attributed to price increases and favorable currency fluctuations. Demand for food packaging and infusion materials as well as medical nonwovens continued to be steady.
In the Home and Personal segment, net sales reached $109 million, an increase of 17.5%.
For the first nine months of 2010, net sales in the Filtration segment grew 24.5%, Building and Energy increased 17.4%, Food and Medical increased 13.3% and Home and Personal rose 12.3%.
