Polymer Group, Inc. announced that it will be featured as one of America’s “greenest” companies on “Green Magazine Television Earth Day Special.”
To commemorate and celebrate the 40th anniversary of Earth Day, the television show will present the special featuring PGI along with Verizon, Alcoa, Navistar, Dow Corning and ZD Wines. The show will air on The Discovery Channel on May 13 at 7 a.m. and on The Learning Channel on May 16 at 7 a.m.
The segment will include interviews with PGI’s Veronica “Ronee” Hagen, chief executive officer; and John Heironimus, chief sustainability officer.
PGI is committed to designing products that are more sustainable or ones that enable other products to become more sustainable. The company has released its second annual Sustainability Report prepared using the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) framework that reported on 37 indicators.
Accomplishments by PGI in 2009 include reducing its carbon footprint, water consumption, raw material intensity and solid waste; increasing use of recycled materials; and improving its lost-time injury rates and employee engagement. The report can be viewed on the corporate Web site.
PGI is working with the INDA Association of the Nonwovens Fabrics Industry to develop a common industry wide global lifecycle analysis of the carbon footprint of products or services, and co-chairs the trade association’s Sustainability Committee.
