Lenzing's Business Unit Nonwovens announced it has achieved double success for Lenzing fibers in Mobile, USA: Tencel has been awarded with both the European and the Nordic Eco-Label. Building on the Lenzing production sites in Austria and the UK, which received the Nordic Eco-Label last year, Mobile achieved double accreditation in July 2009.
“With the certification of Tencel fibers from Mobile we can respond better to the needs of the supply chain in the key American market,” said Wolfgang Plasser, general manager of Lenzing’s Business Unit Nonwoven Fibers.
Eco-Labels support the whole nonwovens supply chain up to and including consumers by identifying environmentally responsible products with high quality. Certification is granted after independent audit and requires compliance with strict requirements including environmental, quality and health standards. Tencel and Lenzing Viscose are based upon the renewable raw material wood and are produced using closed loop processes which reuse and recycle raw materials.
