DAK Americas has acquired from DuPont the technology to manufacture a select group of 2GT- based polyester resin products formerly produced under the Crystar trade name.
DAK Americas established itself as a leading producer in the Americas for PET resins, polyester staple fibers and monomers (polyester raw materials).“The acquiring of these technologies further enhances DAK’s capabilities and allows DAK to expand its product offerings into the Specialty Polymers business,” said Hector Camberos, president and CEO.
The selected product technologies for specialty resins that DAK has acquired from DuPont are typically used to manufacture monofilaments, nonwovens, packaging and other engineered polyester products.
DAK Americas will manufacture and market these specialty resins through a newly created specialty polymers business unit, which will build upon the expertise, synergies and core competencies of DAK’s other business units. “These specialty resins fit perfectly with the trade leading products and polyester based technologies that DAK has established through its focus on Innovation,” according to Oscar Montemayor, senior vice president corporate development, DAK Americas.
