Americhem, a Cuyahoga Falls-based global supplier of color and additive solutions for polymer-based products, has announced several moves in its ongoing manufacturing restructuring process. Current plans involve expanding its manufacturing plants in Concord, NC and Mansfield, TX while phasing out operations at its Salisbury, MD plant.
The closure of the Salisbury, MD plant is expected to be complete by April 2008. Products currently produced at the smaller Salisbury facility will be transferred to other Americhem sites over the next several months. Currently there are 29 employees at this facility and the company expects several to be transferred to other locations.
Closely following the recent expansion of its Dalton, GA facility, the company plans to add new manufacturing lines in the Concord, NC and Mansfield, TX plants. This will increase production of color and additive masterbatches by 10-20% at both facilities.
“The expansions offer strategic advantages in overhead, cost structure and location,” said Bob Tebbutt, executive vice president of global manufacturing for Americhem. “Growth at these facilities will have a positive effect on our overall efficiencies and allow us to continue to take client service to the next level.”
