Personal care products giant Kimberly-Clark Corporation has brought Gordon Knapp on board as president of its North Atlantic Family Care business. In this role, Mr. Knapp will be responsible for identifying and pursuing strategic growth opportunities for K-C's North American and European Family Care businesses. Reporting to Steven Kalmanson, group president of North Atlantic Consumer Products, Mr. Knapp will succeed Dan Smith, who is retiring at the end of May after 27 years with K-C. Mr. Knapp will lead K-C's North Atlantic Family Care team in building and executing a strategy to accelerate top- and bottom-line growth, identify new innovation opportunities and help establish new business capabilities and processes.
Based in Arnhem, The Netherlands, Colbond has appointed Jan Mahy global director, research and development effective this month. Dr. Mahy, who brings with him 18 years of professional experience, was previously employed by Akzo Nobel, a former parent company of Colbond. According to the company, responsibility for the commercial success of new business development has played a major role in Dr. Mahy's position within Akzo Nobel and makes a good fit with Colbond's mid- and long-term approach in R&D. Dr. Mahy will be responsible for the worldwide R&D organization of Colbond and will be based in Colbond's Development and Application Centre in Arnhem, where he succeeds Ger Brinks, director R&D.
Polyester fiber specialist Performance Fibers, Inc. has named Torben Wetche vice president and chief financial officer. Mr. Wetche brings more than 23 years of financial experience to Performance Fibers, an affiliate of Sun Capital Partners. His background includes expertise in international business, mergers and acquisitions, raising capital and general management. He joins the Richmond-based company from CP Kelco, an international specialty chemicals manufacturer based in Atlanta, GA, where he was vice president and CFO. Prior to that, Mr. Wetche served as vice president and CFO for Carmeuse North America, a multi-plant lime manufacturer and distributor. He also held several senior positions with the Heidelberg Group, a solutions provider for the print media industry based in Germany, including senior vice president and CFO of the Americas and U.S. divisions.
RadiciSpandex Corp. has promoted global sales manager Marty Moran to CEO while Rob Rebello, former CEO, will transition to a post on the company's board of directors. The changes follow a decision by Mr. Rebello to pursue an entrepreneurial opportunity heading up a new U.S. operation for an Italian firm. Mr. Moran's promotion to CEO comes a little more than a year after his promotion to global sales manager overseeing all sales and marketing activities for the company. Mr. Moran's experience reflects more than 13 years of proven sales growth in the global textile and nonwoven fabric markets. In recent years he was responsible for RadiciSpandex's largest customer accounts and spearheaded the company's successful business efforts in the nonwoven, heavy denier and Central American markets, resulting in an additional ten percent market growth for the company.
BASF has appointed Nancy Hoblack distribution manager for the functional polymers regional business unit in North America. In her new role, Ms. Hoblack is responsible for managing relationships with all distributors that work with the BASF functional polymers business in the region as well as management of BASF's
polyvinylpyrrolidone business, including technical applications.
Noveon, Inc. recently named Eric Schnur its new vice president, performance coatings. In his new role, Mr. Schnur will be responsible for leading business and growth activities related to the global performance coatings organization, including sales leadership, strategic marketing, business development, major product platform introductions and regional technical support.
Mr. Schnur, who most recently served as vice president specialties in the Lubrizol lubricant additives business segment, joined the company in 1989 as a process development engineer. Mr. Schnur replaces Julian Steinberg, who has been named senior vice president and COO at Lubrizol.
Herrmann Ultrasonics, Inc. has named Uwe Peregi new general manager following the relocation of Thomas Herrmann, who will take over as CEO sales and finances at Herrmann Ultrasonics in Germany. "My father, Walter Herrmann, founder of our family business, has asked me to lead the Herrmann Group into the second generation," explained Mr. Herrmann. Mr. Herrmann will remain president and CEO for Herrmann Ultrasonics, Inc. and will work closely with Mr. Peregi, by making regular visits to the U.S. Mr. Peregi joined the company as vice president sales and marketing in January 2005.
Jeffrey Kane has been named global sales manager for pneumatic trim and scrap waste conveying system manufacturer Precision AirConvey Corporation. Formerly vice president for a national industrial supply company where he was named account manager of the year, Mr. Kane will be responsible for driving the company's worldwide business development efforts including supervising a team of regional sales engineers and expanding a global network of representative firms and distributors. Mr. Kane brings a welcome set of skills, abilities and expertise to the position, according to CEO Tom Embley.

In his new role, Mr. Boone will have responsibility for overseeing the worldwide operations of Branson Ultrasonics Corporation, a manufacturer of plastics joining, precision cleaning and other ultrasonic equipment. Branson is a subsidiary of Emerson Electric Co. Mr. Boone succeeds Tony Pajk, who has left Branson Ultrasonics Corporation for an appointment as CEO of Emerson Power Transmission, Ithaca, NY. Mr. Boone joined Emerson in 1989 as plant manager of the Napanee, Ontario motors plant. He later relocated to the U.S. where he held various management positions, most recently as president of Hermetic Motors.
Stephen Boyd has taken over the position of president of Boyd Converting Company. Mr. Boyd joined Boyd Converting as sales manager, specialty papers in 1999 and was promoted to vice president of sales in 2004. Bronly Boyd founded Boyd Converting in 1979 as a paper converting company specializing in industrial and consumer products. He becomes the CEO of Boyd Technologies, a newly formed LLC focused on expanding business development for several of its product lines.
