One year after purchasing Czech Republic-based nonwovens producer Vigona, Fibertex has finalized plans to add a large needlepunch line to the operation. The NSC line will be installed at a Greenfield location near the two existing Vigona sites in Svitavy, Czech Republic, said Fibertex managing director Knud Waede Hansen. Like the Vigona acquisition, the new line will help boost Fibertex?s technical business, particualry in the construction, automotive and filtration areas.
When announcing the DKK35 million acquisition of Vigona last year, Fibertex officials indicated plans to invest as much as DKK200 million on improving the operation. Central Europe was targeted as a prime growth area for Fibertex because of that region?s growing manufacturing operations, particularly in the automotives industry, as well as its lower wage structure.
