Due to the general market situation as well as customer assets, Suominen is predicting a slowdown in demand for its nonwoven materials. In response, the Suominen Nonwovens business unit will initiate employee negotiations concerning temporary lay-offs that involve the entire personnel, approximately 190 people. The company intends to implement short-term lay-offs, totaling approximately 80 days, depending on the development of demand for nonwovens.   

Based in Finland, Suominen makes thermal bonded and spunlaced nonwovens for wipes and other end use markets.
