Japanese diaper producer Uni-Charm plans to acquire 51% of Gulf Hygiene Industries, a Saudi hygiene product manufacturer. The transaction will result in Gulf Hygiene becoming a Uni-Charm subsidiary effective this month. Established in 1992, Gulf Hygiene manufactures diapers and feminine hygiene products under Uni-Charm’s technical license for the Middle Eastern market. Uni-Charm plans to boost Gulf Hygiene’s diaper sales, which currently represent 17% of the diaper market in the Middle East.
