Company has committed to becoming CO2 neutral by 2035

At WOW, Freudenberg will be highlighting sustainability-relted developments. Eva Walsh, Evolon market manager, North America will present,  “The impacts of Reducing CO2 footprint while targeting CO2 Neutrality by 2035," on the first day of the conference.  She will discuss how sustainability has two dimensions at Freudenberg —a footprint and a handprint. The footprint is defined as how the company shapes its processes and systems to reduce consumption. The handprint are all of the products and solutions that allow its customers to manufacture more efficiently and sustainably.

Committed to becoming a climate neutral company by 2035, Freudenberg has created a four-stage strategy resulting in energy reduction, electrifying remaining energy needs, purchasing green energy and offsetting CO2 emissions.

Additionally, Freudenberg will share its Evolon Recycled product range during the table top sessions including Evolon 100gsm where one master roll of fabric gives new life to 5500 PET bottles and saves 154Kg virgin PET, lowers landfill waste and CO2 emissions.

Freudenberg introduced the Evolong Recycled product range last year. Evolon RE is manufactured from an average of 70% recycled polyester, which the company makes by recycling post-consumer PET bottles in-house. Evolon RE is available for various applications, including high-tech wiping and technical packaging, in weights currently ranging from 80g/sqm to 300g/sqm. Evolon RE offers the same high and constant quality as all other Evolon textiles. This applies to mechanical and textile properties as well as to filtration, cleaning and protection properties.

Since Evolon was launched in 1999, Freudenberg has continuously increased the sustainability of both the product and its production process. For example, no solvents or chemical binders are used during the manufacture of Evolon. In 2003, the company set up an internal reprocessing system for hydroentanglement water and was an early adopter of ISO 50001 in 2012. Thanks to its certified energy management system, Freudenberg is also able to continuously reduce its CO2 emissions. The production of Evolon from post-consumer recycled polyester represents a new milestone in the efforts to increase sustainability.
