spg Prints: Making Plastic Top Sheet Film Closer Textiles

Highlight from spgprints for this particular hygienic industry event is a screen for perforated plastic film which is applied on the top sheets of, for example, baby diapers, feminine care products. It is designed to build plastic top sheet film more durable, better performing.

“We understand plastic film is less preferred in Asia nonwovens products, those big companies worldwide like to plastics films with our nickel screens. Plastic top sheet obviously feels different with nonwovens top sheet, but nonwovens top sheet doesn’t have the same wet capability or breathability, it simply feels nicer on the skin. That’s why large part of the market prefers nonwovens top sheet," says Rob Hermkens, area sales manager Industrial Applications, spgprints

The goal of spgprints is to help worldwide plastic top sheet film manufacturers to increase the touch and feel of the plastics that they produce.

“All our customers make perfect top sheet that you can think of, these top sheets are the best performing top sheets you can find in this particular perspective. Our objective is to enable plastics film manufacturers to produce products with better feeling, we are pretty successful, the leading players in the top segment of the market are our customers already," Hermkens says.

Textile is the main market for spgprints, its hygiene business is growing in China. The company is positive about the future market. “No other companies produce nickel screens for plastic perforation films with the quality we do, i.e., the durability , the lifetime of the screen, and the unique geometry and the pattern on the screen we provide, which makes spgprints well positioned to enable customers to produce plastic films closer and closer to textiles. “

On the picture of the highlighted nickel screen, there are many micro dots on its surface which provide soft feel to plastic films and make them just like nonwovens top sheet.

Previously spgprints designed the screen exclusively for one big customer, and now the offerings are available to the market as they changed the design and production method.

Rob Hermkens thinks the difference between commodity and high quality market will become smaller, the hygiene market will increasingly appreciate high quality products.
