Duni will concentrate its entire Rexcell airlaid business in Skapafors, Sweden following its exit from the hygiene business, a decision announced in Febraury 2013. The company will close its plant in Dals Langed by October 2015 and move all operations from the closed site to Skapafors.
The decision comes as demand for premium materials made in Skapafors is increasing, making that operation greater in size than Dals Langed.
"Rexcell is an important part of Duni's business offerings and the company's leading market postion," says Duni CEO Thomas Gustafsson. "To concentrate future production to one production site creates both synergies and ensures future capacity needs."
In February 2013, Duni announced it would exit the hygiene market and was seeking a buyer for all equipment related to this market. In November 2013, the company said it has failed to find a buyer and woud thus delay the exit to the end of 2014 because shutdown would impact a significant amount of workers in an already-bad economic situation.
Following the hygiene exit, the main market for Rexcell's airlaid products is tabletop applications.
