SCA's Libero diaper brand is joining forces with Save the Children and a number of NGOs to help refugee children by donating 1.3 diapers and providing financial support.
According to some estimates, more than 30 million children are on the run in the world today, and the refugee situation in Europe continues to engage many people.
“The need for help is huge for anyone who is forced to flee, and of course the children are especially vulnerable. All efforts are important and make a difference where the need is greatest. We welcome this kind of initiative and are excited about the benefits the financial contribution will be able to do,” says Elisabeth Dahlin, secretary general of Save the Children.
Camilla Svensson, marketing manager Libero, Region North, says: “Our relief effort is specifically targeting children on the run here in Sweden as well as in other countries. Diapers cannot achieve miracles and we cannot help everyone, but the need of baby diapers and other personal care products is huge. Here we have an important role to play.”
Diapers will be distributed by aid organizations and NGOs. In addition to the 1.3 million diapers Libero will donate, members of Libero's customer club are given the opportunity to donate their bonus points to Save the Children. The points are then financially matched by Libero who will donate the amount to Save the Children.
SCA has worked with a number of organizations to make sure the diapers would reach the right destination, such as Unicef (United Nations Children’s Fund), PayItForward, Göteborgs Räddningsmission (Gothenburg's Rescue Mission) and Stadsmissionen (City Mission).
