Utilizing their existing industry leading FR6001 digital IR sensor, Erhardt+Leimer has announced further functionality in the form of individual substrate detection and guiding in quasi-transparent laminations. When guiding into slitters, or trying to verify positional accuracy in laminations for QC, the ability to detect the individual edges of the substrates is important. Because of the flexibility inherent in the FR6001’s digital programming, a user can pre-set the sensor to find up to four different lamination contrast layers in a running web, and output its position to within 1/10 of a mm. As with all E+L sensors, output is available as a 10-bit analog signal, or IEEE1588 precision time stamped Ethernet/IP, with simultaneous high-accuracy web guiding.
