An absorbent article, comprising: a chassis comprising an outer cover having an interior surface and an exterior surface and an absorbent structure positioned adjacent the interior surface of the outer cover; a non-invasive signaling device configured to detect the presence of a substance and at least one of a predefined color, a UV pattern, or an infrared light reflectance; and at least one attachment zone on the outer cover, the attachment zone configured to receive the non-invasive signaling device, the attachment zone comprising a design scheme printed on the outer cover configured for assisting alignment of the non-invasive signaling device; wherein the design scheme comprises at least one identifiable characteristic, the identifiable characteristic comprising a detectable pattern on the attachment zone, the detectable pattern comprising one of a predefined color, a UV pattern, or an infrared light reflectance, wherein the presence of the predefined color, UV pattern, or infrared light reflectance activates the non-invasive signaling device so as to detect the presence of a substance.
