SCA’s net sales increased 4% to reach $13.6 billion while operating profit increased 15% to $1.5 billion. Among the highlights of the year was a strengthening in emerging markets including the acquisition of Chinese tissue company Vinda and investment in a hygiene products manufacturer in India as well as as the launch of Libero baby diapers and Tempo consumer tissue in India. Operating profit for personal care rose 27%, excluding items affective comaprability such as eschange rates and divestments. Profits meanwhile decreased 12% due largely to lower earnings for baby diapers brought on by an increase in marketing activities.
