An absorbent article comprising a liquid-permeable top sheet, a liquid-impermeable back sheet, and an absorber sandwiched between the top sheet and back sheet, wherein the top sheet is composed of a nonwoven fabric, and a region of the top sheet that contacts a site of discharge is a low density section of the nonwoven fabric with a lower apparent density than the other regions of the top sheet, wherein a top surface of the low density section of the top sheet defines a highest point of the top sheet, the top sheet consists of one low density section and one high density section, and the low density section is surrounded by the high density section.
