Suominen to alter production in Nakkila

Will begin negotiations for temporary layoffs

Based on the general market environment and the estimates received from key customers, Suominen anticipates that the demand for nonwovens products supplied from its Nakkila, Finland plant could remain lower than anticipated. To adjust the operations of the plant with the current business environment, Suominen Kuitukankaat Oy has begun codetermination negotiations concerning potential temporary lay-offs involving its production personnel as well as the personnel working in administrative and support functions related to production. In total approximately 75 people could be impacted by the change.

The potential temporary lay-offs would be implemented in shorter periods between October 2013 and April 2014, At most, the potential lay-off period would be 90 days per person, the company reports.
