An absorbent article having a centroid, a longitudinal centerline, a transverse centerline orthogonal to said longitudinal centerline and intersecting said longitudinal centerline at said centroid, and a body facing surface, said absorbent article comprising: a background region; a central colored region coincident with said longitudinal centerline; an intermediate colored region substantially circumscribing said central colored region, wherein a portion of said intermediate colored region extends across said longitudinal centerline, wherein along said transverse centerline part of said background region is between said intermediate colored region and said central colored region; and an outer colored region, wherein at least part of said background region is between said outer colored region and said intermediate colored region; wherein said background region, said central colored region, said intermediate colored region, and said outer colored region are viewable from said body facing surface; wherein said central colored region, said intermediate colored region, and said outer colored region differ in color from said background region.
