Asheville, NC-based National Wiper Alliance, Inc. (NWA) has completed the purchase of the Owen facility from Charles D. Owen Manufacturing. The facility is located in Swannanoa, NC, and occupies 23 acres with 500,000 square feet under roof.
Currently, NWA resides in two smaller facilities—a production plant in Asheville and leased warehouse space in Fletcher, NC. The much larger Swannanoa facility will allow the company to consolidate all converting operations at one location. The new campus with its nine buildings also allows for the expansion of converting and distribution services.
In addition to this expansion of National Wiper Alliance, Jeff Slosman, founder and president, has formed a new entity—Nonwovens of America, Inc. (NOA). NOA will operate a 5.4-meter airlay needle punch line at the new facility serving the automotive, geotextile and other niche industries.
NOA also will produce nonwoven blankets, the business exited by the previous owners. Slosman says that even though the companies will function independently of each other, they will both operate with the same dedication and focus on customer service and quality that has made National Wiper a leader in the nonwoven wipes industry.
In related news, NWA received their ISO 9001:2008 certification last year from NSF International Strategic Registrations. “The certification validates the systems in place to assure our customers of consistent products and services,” says Slosman.
