A disposable absorbent article comprising: a vapor permeable, liquid impervious, backsheet laminate; a liquid pervious topsheet which is positioned in facing relation with said backsheet; an absorbent core located between the backsheet laminate and the topsheet wherein a modified backsheet film is joined to a nonwoven to form the vapor permeable, liquid impermeable, microporous backsheet laminate and the vapor permeable, liquid impermeable, microporous backsheet laminate comprises an MVTR of at least about 2,000 g/m2/24 hr. The vapor permeable, liquid impermeable, microporous backsheet laminate has a dynamic fluid impact value of less than about 10 gsm wherein the vapor permeable, liquid impervious, backsheet laminate comprises a pattern of deformed areas due to modification of the backsheet film, wherein the pattern of deformed areas comprises alternating rows of peaks and valleys formed by incrementally stretching the backsheet film using alternating and interengaging peripheral teeth and grooves and the rows of peaks and valleys of the backsheet film run substantially parallel with a longitudinal axis of the disposable absorbent article.
