The company began production of nonwoven wipes and diaper components in the mid 1990s.Hassan Group has made an investment for carded air-through bonded acquisition/distribution layer (ADL), which is another important component in baby diapers, sanitary napkins and adult incontinence products.

Merkas Inc., with its Hygenius brand, is one of Hassan’s most recent investments. The subsidiary is focused on the production of carded air-through bonded acquisition distribution layers.

Merkas is also capable of producing complementary nonwoven products that are used in the production of medical composites such as surgical drapes.

As a result of a detailed study and experienced background, the Merkas line is designed for perfection to process many different fiber types for best web forming and final product characteristics of customers’ needs. The line can deliver rolls up to 1200 mm diameter. Merkas’ annual capacity of carded air-through bonded acquisition distribution layer line is more than 8000 tons annually. The start up of the line is planned for this month.

Turkey is one of the leading producers of disposable and medical products in the world. Hassan Group is already supplying these companies with carded thermal bonded nonwoven soft top sheets, breathable and nonbreathable textile backsheets. The carded air through bonded acquisition/distribution layer is another vital nonwoven need of many diaper producers.

Hassan Group is in close contact with the disposable market and is moving ahead in meeting the market’s needs.

During World War II, cotton imports to Turkey had stopped and the founder of Hassan Group,Hasan Sisman started the production of cotton padding using nonwoven methods in 1939. He expanded the production capacity to five primitive machines until 1966. Mr. Sisman’s first new machine investment was an Austurian line and he started producing mattresspadding. In the following years he started producing automotive padding with the support of Tofas Fiat Turkey.

In the early 1980’s, Hassan Group became a diversified supplier of nonwovens and today the group serves more than 60 countries for automotive, white goods, mattresses, artificial leather, geotextiles, roofing and isolation, cleaning wipes, filters, disposables, hygiene and medical disposables, footwear and home textile sectors.

The group companies employ over 750 people.

Hassan Group has focused on the production of nonwovens for many different market segments.

Hassan’s focus on customers’ needs, its reliability and research and development efforts are responsible for Hassan Group’s growth in the various sectors of nonwovens. Contributing to a sustainable world is a priority for the group, thus biodegradable products are developed by combining natural fibers and green chemistry.

Hassan Group plans to serve the global market and will decide on new investments based on market needs.
