rnWallcovering. If the word conjures up thoughts of back breaking installations, frustrating efforts to remove old wallcovering and unappealing designs, you are not alone.

rnAs nonwovens increasingly replace paper in wallcoverings they are becoming easier to install and remove than paper and the designs and patterns offered are more attractive.

rn“The biggest trend and the reason why nonwovens are growing is that they are a lot easier to use than traditional paper. Paper is very difficult to get on the wall and very difficult to remove. When you use a nonwoven base material you don’t need to use a pasting table or let the paper soak. You simply paste the wall and apply the material directly to the wall. When you want to change it, you just take it directly away from the wall. There’s no scraping or steaming. The ease of use has helped reduce the decorating time scale,” said Calum Mayland, marketing manager for Ahlstrom, who has reported success in the market with its EasyLife line.
