The invention relates to an absorbent article, such as a sanitary towel, a panty liner, a tampon, a diaper or an incontinence pad, which is intended to be positioned in the crotch area of the wearer. It has a surface intended to be in contact with skin and/or mucous membranes. The article is comprised of at least one absorbent body and a carrier containing at least one additive intended to be released from the carrier. The carrier is comprised of a polysiloxane gel.
