The absorbent article comprises a cover layer, a barrier layer and an absorbent system including superabsorbent polymer arranged between the cover layer and the barrier layer. The absorbent article has a DCDI value of at least about 0.50 and an absorbency index of at least about 1.5. The total thickness is less than 2.5 mm.
