June 30, 2009

A nonwoven fabric has been issued a patent. It comprises a plurality of low basis weight portions longitudinally extending in a first direction and formed by directing a fluid to a fiber assembly. Each of the high basis weight portions has a central portion and side portions on opposite sides of the central portion. A fiber basis weight of each of the low basis weight portions is less than a fiber basis weight of each of the high basis weight portions. In each of the low basis weight portions, a content percentage of fibers oriented in a second direction is perpendicular to the first direction and is greater than a content percentage of fibers oriented in the first direction. In each of the high basis weight portions, a content percentage of fibers oriented in a thickness direction of the fabric is greater than that in each of the low basis weight portions. A content percentage of fibers oriented in the first direction in each of the side portions is greater than that in the central portion.
