Absorbent Article Having Perception Of Depth

July 22, 2008

An absorbent article having an upper surface, a lower surface and a periphery has been patented. The absorbent article comprises a topsheet with a bottom surface and a viewing surface positioned opposite to the bottom surface. The viewing surface faces upwardly toward the upper surface of the absorbent article. A backsheet has a garment-facing surface and a user-facing surface positioned oppositely to the garment-facing surface. The backsheet is joined to the topsheet. An absorbent core has a top surface and a bottom surface positioned opposite to the top surface. The absorbent core is positioned between the topsheet and the backsheet. An insert is positioned between the topsheet and the absorbent core. The insert has at least a first layer, which has a colored portion that is viewable from the viewing surface of the topsheet. The colored portion has a first shade and a second shade. The first shade and the second shade are the same color—orange, green, blue, violet, or indigo. The second shade is different from the first shade in lightness, darkness and/or tone.
