Method Of Detecting The Presence Of Insults In An Absorbent Article

Patented is a method of detecting and communicating to a caregiver and/or a wearer the presence of an insult within an absorbent article. The method comprises monitoring an electrical property of the article as the article is being worn by the wearer and determining the electrical property of the article at a first time. The electrical property is expressed as a first indicator value. The method also includes activating an insult alarm to inform the caregiver and/or the wearer of the presence of an insult in the article when the first indicator value is indicative of an insult. The process also includes determining the electrical property of the article after activating the insult alarm. The electrical property is expressed as a second indicator value. Determining the second indicator value is indicative of the presence of a second insult within the article .The method also includes determining the amount of time that elapsed between the activation of the alarm and the determination of the indication of the presence of the second insult. Finally, the process includes comparing the elapsed time to a time threshold value and activating either an insult alarm or a saturation alarm as a function of the comparison.
