Light-Stable Colored Transparent Composite Films

June 12, 2007

A transparent film that exhibits a predetermined finished color tone has been issued a patent. The film comprises a color-deficient, dyed, polymer film layer that exhibits a color deficiency in at least one of hue, chroma and value as compared to the predetermined finished color tone. A pigment with an average particle size of less than about 0.50 microns is visually associated with the polymer film layer. The pigment exhibits a matching color tone satisfying the color deficiency of the polymer film layer to impart to the transparent film the predetermined finished color tone when the polymer film layer and the pigment are viewed collectively as a unit.
