A stiff reinforced composite structure with a core and first and second layers of fibrous material has been granted a patent. The first and second layers are bound to respective first and second opposed surfaces of the core and with respective exterior surfaces. Internal fibers are stitched between the first and second layers and through the core. At least some of the internal fibers extend between the first and second layers in a direction oblique to the first and second layers. A matrix material joins the first and second layers of fibrous material, the internal fibers and the core into a stiff reinforced composite structure.
