Fibrous Reinforcement Suitable As A Fireproofing Agent

A fibrous reinforcement for use in making composite items has been patented. The reinforcement features a fibrous support with a surface and reinforcing fibers selected from the group consisting of fiberglass, carbon and ceramic. The reinforcement also includes a compound comprising a resin component selected from a group consisting of thermosetting prepolymers with a softening temperature of 150°C or lower and thermoplastic polymers with a glass transition temperature lower than 300°C and an inorganic phosphorus compound wherein the treatment ratio for the fibrous support with the inorganic phosphorus compound falls within the range of 2%-20% by weight.
