A sanitary napkin has been patented. Featuring a longitudinal centerline and a lateral centerline orthogonal thereto, the napkin has longitudinal side margins and transverse ends. The sanitary napkin includes a liquid pervious topsheet, a liquid impervious backsheet and an absorbent core intermediate the top- and backsheet. The core has two major faces, a first major face oriented toward the topsheet and a second major face oriented toward the backsheet. The first major face has a discontinuous first line of weakness that is longitudinally concave toward the lateral centerline. The line of weakness makes up discrete sites. The discrete sites are bilaterally staggered about the line of weakness. The sanitary napkin deforms to a convex upward configuration while in use.
