A multi-layer article has been granted a patent. The article has a first layer comprising a first ply and a second ply joined to the first ply in a face-to-face relationship at a plurality of discrete bond sites. The first and second plies form an interior region there between. A third material between the first and second plies is differentiated from the first or second ply by at least one material property selected from the group consisting of thermal properties, elongation properties, elastic properties and conductive properties. The third material fills the interior region and is apertured in regions coincident with the bond sites, such that the first and second plies are joined through the apertures.
A second layer is made up of a continuous cellulosic web. A third layer features a first ply and a second ply joined to the first ply in a face-to-face relationship at a plurality of discrete bond sites. The first and second plies form an interior region there between. The second layer is between the first and third layers. The first layer is bonded to the second layer and the second layer is bonded to the third layer.
