An oxygen barrier film that includes a polymer film layer has been issued a patent. The polymer film layer includes an oxygen barrier coating, which comprises a polyvinyl alcohol and a cold water-soluble starch and has a thickness of about 0.001 to about 5 microns. The oxygen transmission rate of the polymer film layer and the oxygen barrier coating is about 0.3 cc mil/100 in two days or less.
