Disposable Absorbent Article That Is Comprised Of A Hydrophobic Topsheet and Possesses Improved Liquid Handling Performance
Published March 16, 2004
A patent has been issued for a disposable absorbent article that has a transverse centerline, a first region and a second region in addition to a front region and a rear region. The front region is positioned ahead of the transverse centerline, and the front region comes into contact with the front waist of the wearer during use. The back region is positioned behind the transverse centerline, and the back region comes into contact with the back waist of the wearer during use. The disposable absorbent article is comprised of a liquid pervious, fibrous, structured carrier, a liquid impervious backsheet at least partially peripherally joined to the structured carrier. A liquid storage structure positioned intermediate to the structured carrier and the backsheet, a liquid handling structure positioned intermediate to the structured carrier and the liquid storage structure, a portion of the liquid handling structure in positioned in the first region, a portion of the liquid handling structure is also positioned in the second region of the storage structure. The structured carrier has a liquid retention of less than 150 mg for a test liquid having a surface tension of 33 mN/m, and the liquid handling structure has a basis weight to uncompressed caliper ratio of less than 100 grams per square meter per millimeter.
