A disposable pantyliner for a thong garment has been issued a patent. The pantyliner is designed to be worn by a wearer to trap and collect fluid waste products of the wearer.
The pantyliner is an elongated planar pad with a longitudinal central axis and a wedge-shaped periphery including first and second longitudinal extending sides that interconnect top and bottom ends. The top end has a longer periphery than the bottom end.
The pad consists of a topsheet, a fluid absorbent core, and a back sheet. The topsheet is made of a fluid pervious material and is placed over the absorbent core. The absorbent core includes a fluid absorbing material and is placed over the backsheet. The backsheet is made of a fluid impervious material.
The topsheet, the fluid absorbent core and the backsheet are bonded together along first and second sets of plural parallel lines. The first set of parallel lines has first portions extending along the first longitudinally extending side of the pad and second portions extending along a second longitudinally extending side of the pad.
Third portions extend along the top end of the pad. One of the lines of the first set of parallel lines has a fourth portion extending along the bottom end of the pad. The second set of parallel lines is located adjacent to the bottom end of the pad and extends parallel to the longitudinal central axis.
The first set of parallel lines merges with the second set of generally parallel lines adjacent to the bottom end of the pad. The first and second set of parallel lines form a barrier resistant to the egress of fluid out of the periphery of the pad and channel fluid to spread the fluid across the pad.
