A disposable, liquid absorbent article with a front, middle and rear portion has been patented. The article features a liquid-impervious cover sheet and an inner sheet that is connected to the cover sheet surrounding an absorbent body. A major axis extends along the article’s longitudinal axis and a first barrier extends from the inner sheet on a first side of the longitudinal axis along an axis parallel to the longitudinal axis. The first barrier extends from the article’s front and the middle portions and has elastification extending from a first to a second longitudinal position. The first longitudinal position is at the front portion and the second longitudinal position is at the middle portion. A second barrier extends from the inner sheet on a second side of the longitudinal axis along an axis parallel to the longitudinal axis and extends from the front and middle portions. The second barrier has elastification extending from the first to the second longitudinal position. A first elasticizing means is fastened to one of the inner sheets while the cover sheet extends along the article’s outer edge from the second to the third longitudinal position. The third longitudinal position is at the rear portion to gather a portion of the inner and the cover sheet. A second elasticizing means is fastened to one of the inner sheets and the cover sheet and extends along an outer edge of the absorbent article from the second to the third longitudinal position to gather a portion of the inner sheet and the cover sheet.
