Patented is a refastenable absorbent article with a longitudinal axis. The article comprises a front portion with a central section including first and second side edges and lateral sections, which are positioned adjacent to one of the first and second side edges and the lateral sections and are releasably attached to the central section. The lateral sections have an outer edge and the front portion has a first and a second end. A crotch portion is joined at one end to the front portion and at the back portions’ opposite end. The crotch portion has a first side edge, a first crotch elastic positioned adjacent to the first side edge, a second side edge, and a second crotch elastic positioned adjacent to the second side edge. Each of the first and second side edges has an end point adjacent to the back portion. The end points are located at a maximum distance transversely from a longitudinal axis and passes through the crotch portion’s first and second side edges. The article’s back portion is divided into a first and second section. The first section is bounded by a first end, a line drawn parallel to the first end and a first and second side edge. The second section is bounded by the line drawn parallel to the first end, a second end, a first edge and a second edge defining a first area A3. The line drawn parallel to the first end intersects a pair of corners where the first and second side edges of the first section intersect with the first and second edges of the second section. The second end is parallel to the first end and intersects the end points where the first and second side edges of each crotch portion intersect with the first and second edges of the second section.
