Patented is an absorbent article. The article contains a longitudinal axis with a front portion that has a first and second end and a first and second side edge. The first and second lateral sections are releasably attached to the front portion and are joined to each other. Each of the first and second lateral sections have an outer edge. A crotch portion, connecting the front and back portions, has a first and a second side edge. Each of the first and second side edges have an endpoint adjacent to the back portion. The end points are located parallel to the longitudinal axis, at a maximum distance transversely from the longitudinal axis and passes through the first and second side edges of the crotch portion twice. The back portion is divided into a first and a second section and the first section is bounded by a first end with a line drawn parallel. A second section is bounded by the line drawn parallel to the first end, a second end, a first edge and a second edge. The line intersects a pair of corners where the first and second side edges of the first section intersect with the first and second edges of the second section. The second end is parallel to the first end and intersects the end points where the first and second side edges intersect with the first and second edges of the second section. An absorbent portion is secured to the front, back or crotch portions, and each of the outer edges of the first and second lateral sections is secured to one of the first and second side edges of the back portion to form a pant-like article with a waist opening and a pair of leg openings.
