Production Operator- San Leandro, CA
Our facility in Modesto, CA is one of the leading corrugated box plants and a part of Georgia-Pacific’s Packaging division. We specialize in converting corrugated sheets into brown boxes for consumer’s everyday use. Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Production Operator for our Modesto, CA facility. This role creates value by providing labor support to the operations team which allows them to produce a quality product for our customers in a timely manner. The Production Operator will also contribute to a safe and clean plant environment by performing general housekeeping duties in different areas of the production floor.
Candidates in this role are required to work any shift: 1st, 2nd and 3rd which includes overtime, weekends and holidays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate a forklift or other mobile equipment on the production floor
- Achieve production goals within various operational departments
- Assist crew members with performing repetitive and physically demanding set-ups
- Troubleshoot and make minor machine adjustments
- Maintain cleanliness in designated work area and adhere to plant environmental guidelines, policies and procedures
Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Six (6) months of work experience
- Willing and able to work any shift, holidays, weekends and overtime as needed
- Willing and able to work in a hot, cold, dusty and noisy industrial environment
- Willing and able to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, and/or pulling for up to 12 hours a day
- Willing and able to lift 50lbs routinely
- Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two (2) years of experience working within a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Experience operating heavy manufacturing equipment
- Experience using computerized machinery in production environment
- Leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
- Forklift certification
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Ability to multi-task in a team environment
- Ability to apply math skills
- Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbal
- Ability to adhere to a strict attendance policy
