Manufacturing Service Technician– Green Bay, WI
Georgia Pacific employs roughly 2,200 people at our Green Bay facility. Approximately 400 employees provide business support in engineering, transportation, data processing, and customer services. Georgia-Pacific is currently recruiting for a Manufacturing Service Technician to join our Corporate Engineering team in Green Bay, WI. The successful candidate will provide reliability and technical support for yankee dryers including performing mechanical maintenance, inspections and diagnostic services. This is a labor-intensive role. The Manufacturing Service Technician creates value by providing mechanical maintenance services for multiple North American paper manufacturing facilities, ensuring maximum uptime of machines in order to meet and exceed production goals.
Key Responsibilities:
· Field machining, including precision surface grinding 12’-18’ diameter yankee dryer rolls and specialized mechanical maintenance
· Non-destructive examinations, inspections and diagnostic services using sensors, cables, cameras and computers to troubleshoot paper process reliability issues of cast or steel vessels
· Report writing to document findings, draw conclusions and make recommendations supported by charts, graphics, photos, tables and other media
· Troubleshooting diagnostic equipment problems
Basic Qualifications:
· High school diploma or GED
· A minimum of 2 years of experience as a machinist or maintenance mechanic OR a technical degree in electro-mechanics or manufacturing technology
· Willing and able to work on platforms and catwalks varying in height from 2ft-20ft from ground level
· Willing and able to travel 50% of the time
· Willing and able to work in small and/or confined spaces including entering a confined space through an access opening of 47 inch circumference
· Willing and able to work weekends, holidays and overtime when needed
Preferred Qualifications:
· Journeyman license or certification
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
· Comprehension of complex work instructions
· Ability to communicate effectively and constructively
· Maintain up to date knowledge of new processes and equipment
