Wacker expands Indian technical center

Growth responds to increased demand from silicone customers

Wacker is strengthening its presence in India with the opening of an expanded techical center for silicone products in Amtala near Kolkata. Operated through the joint venture Wacker Metroark Chemicals, the enlarged regional competence center contains state-of-the-art applications technology and test equipment for silicone products used in textiles, personal care and construction applications. The investment follows the growing demand for silicone products and the emerging needs of regional customers for technical support and expertise. Wacker reportedly invested €500,000 in the center.

Continued growth in the Asian region prompted the enlargment of the new center which is now about 1800 square meters.

"By advancing our lab capabilties, we will leverage our local competence to fulfill our customers' needs in the growing regions of India and South East Asia even better," stresses Christian Hartel. "Our top notch equipped technical center for silicone applications sets a new standard in service, advice and transfer of expertise, offering our customers and business partners considerable added value."
