Avery Dennison has developed an adhesive for high-performance resealable packaging applications in home and personal care. R1490M adhesive was designed specifically for the reseal market and suits a very wide range of wet wipe applications including baby, facial and household wipes. It is one of recent next-generation adhesives developed by Avery Dennison.
“This new product is highly moisture- and solvent-resistant and provides up to 60 open/closures," says Jasper Zonnenberg, director specialties, Avery Dennison Label and Packaging Materials. “Brand image is critical for wet wipe products, and R1490M gives consumers a smooth and quiet peel, with clean removal, across many surface types including difficult surfaces such as polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and polypropylene (PP) substrates.”
Balancing cost and the high performance demands of reclosure applications is an important interest for personal care brand owners. R1490M is designed so brand owners can give consumers the high packaging quality they expect in daily use, at a lower cost. Label converters using R1490M will benefit from improved margins and new potential packaging opportunities in a wide variety of home and personal care applications says the company.
R1490M is available with a wide range of filmic facestocks, and is also included in the Avery Dennison Mix and Match service. The adhesive carries BfR XIV food approval for dry, non-fatty and fatty foodstuffs, with a reduction factor of 5. Lower solvent levels result in improved sustainability. Products using the adhesive are also available with a special gum pattern on 2-meter width.
