IDEA 13 International Engineered Fabrics Conference & Expo opened today at the Miami Beach Convention Center. For the first time in the show’s history, IDEA 13 is operating at sold out status, covering more exhibition space than ever before.
“It’s turning out to be a great show,” says INDA president Dave Rousse. “There are 483 exhibitors, representing a significant increase from last time.”
Of the exhibitors, 56-58% represent non-NAFTA countries, proving that IDEA has really turned into a global show. Past president Rory Holms, who retired this year after nearly a decade at the helm of INDA says the increased global flavor of the show has been one of the big changes he’s seen at IDEA. “We have made due on our promise to be a truly global show,” he says.
In addition to the exhibition, IDEA 13 includes a daily conference program each morning before the show floor opens. Today’s speakers included Ian Butler, International Nonwovens Consulting, who spoke about China; Richard Chapas, of Chapas, Chinai and Associates, who spoke on India and Ian Bell, tissue & hygiene research manager, Euromonitor, who spoke about the Asia-Pacific region.
On Wednesday, morning INDA will present the IDEA 13 International Achievement Awards, which will represent innovation in new product development in several nonwovens categories including Converted Products (short life and long life), Equipment, Raw Materials and Roll Goods.
