Kao Corporation held a ceremony recently inaugurating its new plant in Hefei, City, Anhui Province, China. The plant, known as Kao Hefei, will make disposable diapers for babies starting in late 2012.
The initial investment in the site was reported at ¥6 billion ($76 million). The size of the first stage is 70,000 square meters but officials expect the size of the plant to reach 125,000 square meters as Kao continues to invest in growth in Asia and the ASEAN region.
In July, Kao announced it would build a second plant in Indonesia to make sanitary napkins and laundry detergent. At the time of this announcement, the company said it would would ultimately add diaper manufacturing to the site, which will be completed late next year.
