The Emulsion Polymers business of Celanese Corporation, a global technology and specialty materials company, formally dedicated its expanded vinyl acetate/ethylene (VAE) unit in Nanjing, China this week. The expansion, which doubles the original capacity of the VAE unit, came online in the second quarter.“This VAE unit expansion is a reflection of Celanese’s commitment to the further development of vinyl-based emulsion solutions spanning a broad range of end use applications including areas such as low VOC, low odor paints with our EcoVAE binder, specialty adhesives and building and construction applications. Today, we are servicing the needs of our customers with our differentiated product portfolio through two manufacturing units,” said Phillip McDivitt, general manager.
The Nanjing site is Celanese's largest chemical complex globally with eight units currently and more planned, according to executives. The company also has a technical center in Shanghai, which opened earlier this year.
